In his final breeze prior to the G1 Clásico de Criadores-G1, a race for which he was highly favored, IMPERIO, that stakes-winning son of Blueformer(USA) ex Sky Miss(USA), by Robyn Dancer, suffered a severe injury to his right fore suspensory ligament.
RSA resident veterinarian Eugenio Deschamps has found the colt to be comfortable and in no eminent danger. Dr. Deschamps has planned the colt's treatment and recovery plans, which consist of special bandaging for the next few days and then he will receive stem cell therapy. The colt will then be sent to Rancho San Antonio where he will be rested until returning rehabilitation training in late February of March 2017.
The gray colt was game winner of the Clásico Angel Contreras Mejía-G3, presented by Rancho San Antonio and races in the colors of RSA.
