After running second or third in all her stakes events, Time to Tango picked the perfect time to join the dance by winning a 1,700 meters (8.5 furlongs) qualifying event for the Serie Hipica del Caribe that will be held in Panama in December.

The Dominican Republic racing season has been cut short this year after the normal stakes calendar was upset by a nearly 6 months horsemen and riders strike that prompted changes in the government-operated Hipodromo V Centenario. Since there was no racing between the months of March and late July, the Dominican Triple Crown events, which serve as qualifiers for international competition, were not run.

Time to Tango was the longest shot of the three talented fillies that perennial leading Dominican trainer Eugenio Deschamps saddled for the race. Stablemates Mon Gateau (by Blueformer) and Exotica (by Tango Tales) slugged it out for the first 3 furlongs imposing a demanding pace. Soon they were joined by the ever improving El Menor (Rationalexuberance - Odalsi) who added more fire to the flaming pace. All the while Time to Tango, under the patient and experienced hold of veteran journeyman Francisco "El Siete" Cabrera, was placed next to last during the early running of the race. Slowly but surely, she began to gobble up rivals in the late backstretch and far turn, entered the homestretch 6 wide, and drew away with authority to win by 5 lengths.

Although the race qualifies the 3 year-old filly to represent the Dominican Republic in the 2013 Clasico del Caribe, she most likely will be entered in the Copa Dama del Caribe, which is restricted to nominated Caribbean-bred 3 year-old fillies.

The race resulted in a Rancho San Antonio bred superfecta: the winner was Time to Tango (by Tango Tales), Mon Gateau (by Blueformer) ran a game second despite a troubled trip), El Menor (by Rationalexuberance) was third, and Exótica (by Tango Tales) had to settle for fourth place.

Time to Tango is from the first crop of our promising stallion Tango Tales (Tale of the Cat - Tangos's Mambo, by Kingmambo) out of the late running Kissin Kris mare Blizz Honor. Her half-brother is being offered as Hip. No. 4 of the upcoming Rancho San Antonio 2013 Yearling sale that will be held on November 10th.
