Shookstown Road, a once consistent runner at Charlestown Race Course, added the Clásico Federación Nacional de Dueños to remain undefeated in 3 starts in the Dominican Republic. The event took place July 26, 2014.
The bay gelding by Bowman’s Band – Haveyouheard, by Oh Say rated nicely behind the frontrunners and drew even and took command in the final 500 meters of the 1400 meter stakes race and sprinted clear of stablemate Your Busted (by Officer) to draw clear by 3 ½ widening lengths.
Shookstown Road was ridden by leading rider Luis Jimenez who has been given the leg up in all his starts in Dominican Republic, is trained by Eugenio Deschamps and Juan Jimenez and races for the red and black silks of our Rancho San Antonio. Jockey Jimenez says he is impressed by the game veteran and says he doesn't how fast he can go since he has only tapped him with the whip once in his 3 starts.
The gelding is part of a 28 horse importation implemented by the Dominican Horse Owners Federation in order to increase the Hipódromo V Centenario's horse population after it's reopening in October 2013 after it's closure due to a horsemen's strike in demand of administrative changes. Since the tracks reopening total horses have increased 20% and purses have been raised up to 20%.
